Bob

Being surrounded by friends and family is wonderful. It feels like you’re never searching for contact; there’s always stuff to do and people to share with. If and when this disappears—it happens in all manner of instances—you will then truly value the security of that connection. Too often, in the moment, it is lost on us.

Never underestimate what you have; take stock and reflect on how to maintain and grow your tribe—this is super important. If you find yourself on the other side of the river, start again; don’t wallow, but build your community one smile at a time.

I look for Bob most days, seeing him gives me a sense of care and connection. I’m unsure if he feels the same way, but I hope so. But then I’ll never know, as all he can do is meow loudly due to being tone deaf and close to 19 years old. Bob’s a cat who lives on my street, one block down. He loves the sun and is always ready to scarf some cake if I have any left. His place is on the way to my local coffee stop. I ask myself, would you go and look for him if the shop were to close? My answer is yes. Why? Because Bob gives me a lift.

Keep looking, stay connected. Instances like this can nourish the soul.
