The positive state of English cricket .. Boris Johnson, and a look at the purring Geelong Cats
Sportsfix - a weekly radio chat with Rob Cameron (The Pulse 94.7) - Tuesday, August 8th, 2022. A maiden audio posting! Not quite a podcast, but a change of pace, hope you enjoy. Pods in and smile.
A maiden audio posting! One thing you didn’t see too often in the recent England v New Zealand Test series, that’s maidens!
Hello all, I hope you enjoy a change of pace here, put in the pods and try to enjoy 30 minutes of the varied discussion I had with Geelong radio host Rob Cameron (The Pulse 94.7) - this was recorded Tuesday 9th August, 2022
Boris Johnson, Jimmy Anderson and Baz McCullum, the Geelong Cats and Chris Scott all feature. And, not to be outdone, the ‘old boys’ in the Fletcher Moss pub!
Enjoyed the listen? I would love it if you shared it with your friends.
Rob and I, kicked off the slot with some further musing on Boris Johnson.
Johnson’s hero of yesteryear was confirmed as the Greek politician Pericles, Johnson is said to liken his own talents to those of his hero. We will leave you to draw your own comparisons! - Pericles was a brilliant general, orator, patron of the arts and politician—"the first citizen” of democratic Athens, according to the historian Thucydides.

Then there was discussion on the rosy state of English Test cricket - I keep reading that sentence back, and it just doesn’t sound right - A transformation orchestrated by Coach Baz McCullum, a New Zealander of redoubtable talent. And, a style of play easily accepted by his players. Jimmy Anderson is called out for being too old! And, too good.
‘Chariots of Fire’ gets a baking! And, finally, there was some interesting coaching discussion around Chris Scott, and the Geelong Cats. The Cats find themselves looking down on the rest of the competition, and the premiership looks either theirs to lose, or theirs to win.
Scott’s reorganisation of his coaching panel is unique in its structure, and is delivering better results than he could have hoped for. The ‘industry standard’ of line-coaches being removed at the cattery, with more emphasis on inclusion and a more holistic approach from the top down. We believe Scott has found ‘his voice’. He is clearly in the top echelon of coaches in the AFL.
Please leave a comment below - it would be great to hear your thoughts on the introduction of audio content. Thanks
