SN Reader Rob Cameron, who hosts a morning weekly radio show in Geelong, guides me, Nick Speak, through a week in sport, with a twist. As to what that twist is, we're still working on this!
The FIFA Women's World Cup concluded with Spain defeating England in a subdued final. Women's sports generally receives a good airing, with Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes getting an unexpected mention for his help in building the world's first women-only purpose-built pro sports stadium.
Then, like Rob, an AFL goal umpire shuns the use of technology, preferring his own subjective judgement, and Adelaide are left far from crowing.
Finally, the Geelong Cats have the cue in the rack, as correctly predicted by Rob, and the AFL finals loom large, as does the smell of freshly cut grass and an optimistic spring forecast in Melbourne.
Oh, I introduced Viktor Hovland (Norway) to Rob after his closing round of 61 to win the BMW Championship in Chicago. “Who’s he?”
And, finally, Michael Parkinson was remembered for his outstanding contribution as a television interviewer across five decades, and he liked cricket; the only issue being, he was a Yorkshireman!
We hope you enjoy the listen.
PS: We are also still working on the logo/image, and no, at this time we’re not recruiting. Any contributions or suggestions on the image—please send them through!
