Cowbridge in Mid- Glamorgan a farming community celebrated Boxing Day with Horse Hunt Meeting on the Downs which is situated just outside the township which is located in a valley.

This occurs only on Boxing Day every year. We send the Hunt on the way to catch "A FOX" not acceptable nowadays but was in my day We then adjourned to a friends house and had a multitude of drinks. We then played an Annual Rugby Match against another local team which always ended with a friendly punch up and many drinks to celebrate the time of year

Happy memories. I suppose its good I can remember those magical times,

Happy New Year Nick look forward to catching up for a New Year drink !!!

I too learnt Cribbage at a very early age ; thus it was refreshing being reminded of fifteen 2, fifteen 4 and 1 for his knob. Great memories ......... but hard to find others to compete. Thx Nick.

Gold Nick. 8 kids in the family and the finances of the time allowed for one present each and we we really did appreciate it. My first Slazenger bat as a 13year old was a highlight. I also remember being woken in the night as an 8 or 9 year old to a hammering sound. I snuck to a window to watch Dad assembling a tent on the front lawn. The Santa myth was busted.

South African bowlers were desperately unlucky on day two. Jansen looks like a long term gun, particularly after a calm measured knock on day one. Sadly they will get beaten badly again and another wasted summer for test cricket fans. Bring on Bazball
